If you are wanting to buy a new plant or upgrade your existing plant, make sure that the engineering firm you choose is properly accredited and can provide a “data pack” verifying the plant’s compliance.
This has become necessary because the authorities recently started enforcing the specifications governing treatment plants, which were published several years ago.
These specifications, SANS347:2012, require each new plant or plant upgrade to come with a data pack proving compliance with every aspect of the specifications. The plant can only be signed off after this data pack is provided.
This requirement is time-consuming and could drive up the cost of a plant, as an independent verification agency must be contracted to draw up the documents.
The implication is that the cheapest, possibly non-compliant equipment will no longer be available.
“The upside is that the enforcement of the regulations could help our industry to be more professional, with a better assurance of quality,” says Bertus. “If you run a proper operation, you should have no problems.”
To find out more about the implications for your business, refer to the specifications, or contact your Dolphin Bay sales representative.
