This year promises to be a positive one for our industry, and the Dolphin Bay team is
feeling extremely enthusiastic and energetic about serving each one of our customers.
The political – and therefore economic – turbulence of 2016 looks set to continue. However, our own company and our industry have put new projects and structures in place to protect the industry and give it a springboard for new growth.
In a major reason for optimism, there has been an upsurge in the demand for structural timber across South Africa since the start of 2017, and our customers are ramping up their production in response. While the demand for poles has decreased, as farmers have been scaling back their orders due to the drought, this is likely to change when sufficient rain falls. Meanwhile, innovations such as shade netting for crops, which is held up by treated poles, are showing exciting growth.
In addition, the industry is starting to mature, with companies increasingly looking for value-added services. Dolphin Bay is well-placed to provide these services, which we have been offering our local and international clients, and developing and refining continuously for many years. We are very encouraged that customers are increasingly choosing their supplier not only on the cost of the product, but also on whether they offer services that will help ensure their business’s sustainability.
This year, we will be developing innovative new technical offerings for our clients. Meanwhile, the focus of our services this year will be sustainability. As part of this focus, we will be helping our clients gain easy, cost-effective access to highly reputable environmental consultants.
To each of our clients, thank you for sticking with us. We will continue to do all in our power to develop tailor-made solutions to the unique set of challenges that your business faces.
We look forward to an innovative and highly productive partnership in 2017!
